Everyone buys groceries (including stamps), CDs and electronics,
shoes for the family, gas for the car, get oil changes, and goes to the hardware
store. Order “bucks” from the Shul office in advance of your purchase and help
CBSBG raise a lot of money! The “bucks” also make great presents! Just try
it--it’s easy!!! Get in the habit of anticipating your purchases and carry gift
cards when you shop! It’s a great way for the Shul to earn some money!

Fill out the order form and bring or mail it to the Shul office with a check payable to CBSBG for the certificates you have ordered. For example: if you want 5 Barnes & Noble $10 certificates, include a check for $50. There is no additional charge to you and you can use these certificates at any Barnes & Noble store for $50 in merchandise.
The Shul is able to buy these $10 certificates for $9.10 each, so we make 90 cents or 9% on each certificate. It sounds like a small amount but the proceeds add up quickly, especially if you can get your friends and family involved.
Some certificates come in the form of prepaid cards that can be run through the cash register at the store. So if you buy a card with $50 on it, you do not need to spend $50 at one time; the store will debit the amount of your purchase from the card and you can reuse it until the balance drops to zero.
In general, certificates cannot be redeemed for cash or to pay charge account balances. Some certificates may have expirations (usually at least 12 months or longer). Certificates are not refundable and may have other restrictions. You can go to the Great Lakes Scrip Center for up-to-date information about the certificates for each retailer. Please note, however, that Congregation B'nai Shalom of Buffalo Grove only sells “bucks” (or “scrips”) for selected merchants. See the order form for the list of merchants whose “bucks” we sell.
We will be ordering “bucks” on the second Tuesday of each month. The order forms and money are due in the Shul the previous Friday. The orders cannot be charged to a credit card. You will be receiving email reminders telling you when the orders will be placed. Certificates will arrive in approximately 1 week and can be collected from the Shul office.
